It would be stupid for the Red Sox to pay this kid like he's the greatest in the game when he's only 26 and has never pitched anywhere but Japan.
Know why there are only about 8 Japanese players in MLB? Because that's all there is at MLB caliber.

yup...$51.11 million, and the agent wants $15 million a year on top of that....AND HERE IS THE STICKING POINT..
If this kid pitches for a team like Boston, Red Sox gear is going to be worth hundreds of millions a year in Japan. Every other Japanese kid will be walking around in a Red Sox hat or jersey...kinda like---uhhhhh -----me.
The AGENT wants a cut of the profits...which is total Bull****....

BEDFORD, Mass. -- Daisuke Matsuzaka arrived in Massachusetts late this afternoon and headed immediately for Mass. General Hospital, presumably to have a physical in what would be the final hurdle in finalizing a longterm deal with the Red Sox.
Neither side has confirmed of a preliminary agreement, but it’s been widely reported that the sides were near agreement on a $52 million, six-year contract.
After a 4-hour, 43-minute flight from John Wayne Airport in Orange County, Calif., the Dassault Mystere 900 tri-jet of Boston owner John Henry landed at Laurence G. Hanscom Field in suburban Bedford at 5:16 p.m.
