Attention readers and friends of JL4.
This is his daughter. If I knew the password for this blogger account I would be making a formal post and not just a comment. But unfortunately I don't know it and couldn't even begin to guess. Goodness knows I wish to end this blog on a much more dignified note than the current one...but with JL4 that's just the way it goes. A baseball joke is sort of fitting, after all. :)
I'm sad to report that my dad passed away early in the morning on July 31st. Quickly, painlessly and easily. For those familiar with his earlier posts I'm sorry to say: the monster won. But never was there a more worthy adversary.
He was a good soldier. A good dad. A good man. He will be missed. Every single moment of every single day.

There are no words really to express how saddened I am by this news..JL4 will be missed greatly!! As one of his long time readers, I also consider him a friend. Its funny that way in the blogosphere. You meet people by chance..and they become part of the story of your life. JL4's posts have always been a source of laughter, intropsection and emotion for me..I came to this blog daily to see what he'd come up with. He was a great writer with terrific common sense and a wonderful sense of humor. To me it was clear how much he loved his family and this country. I will always be grateful for his service.

My heart is broken for all of you-
JL4 became a dear friend, almost 3 years ago, and there's not a time when I sit down to write at MV without thinking of him.
He will be, and is, greatly missed. Please know I send love and prayers for all of you...his wife, his boys, for you his daughter, and the granddaughter he loved so much.
I don't have the words to express how deep a void he leaves in his passing- for all of us- even if we only knew him in a limited way.

I've had most of the weekend to think about this and there's nothing great to say. I kept thinking that I'd email him sometime, or be in the Florida area and we'd have a real conversation, so I'm regretful for that. But I really appreciate you taking the time to respect our friendships with him, non-traditional as they may be, and take the time to let us know what happened. This gave us the opportunity to say good bye on our own blogs in our own way.
Thank you, and I'm sorry for the great loss to your and your family.
To all of the JL family, please know how much he meant to all of us. He shared his rants, his jokes, his opinions, his heartache, his laughter, and his life. In our tight knit little blog world, he was family.

I'm heartbroken. He was such a great man in so many ways. He sent me an autographed copy of his book which I will cherish for a long time to come. My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends, even those of us who never got to meet him in person.
