any thoughts on the Mike Gundy thing?
Yes...high school and collegiate athletes should be off-limits to direct criticism or an out-and-out put down by anyone in the print and/or spoken media.
This kid is not a paid professional athlete, and therefore should not be put down by this reporter, who by happenstance is a female, so I can assure you SHE'S never gone across the middle on a pass pattern in a Division I football game herself.
The coach (Gundy) is 100% justified in defending his player, irrespective of the manner in which he laid it out.
